Bordeaux

Bordeaux is located on the Garonne River, near the Atlantic Ocean. It is famous for wines which are made near the city. Furthermore, it is famous for its wonderful art. Therefore it is classified as a City of Art and History. Some buildings in it date back to Roman times. Because of that Bordeaux is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

PLACE DE LA BOURSE

Place de la Bourse is a square with one of the city’s most recognizable sights. It was built between 1730 to 1775 along the Garonne River. Furthermore, it was a multi-building development designed by Ange-Jacques Gabriel. He died before the building was finished. Therefore, his son finished it.

LA CITE DU VIN

This is a museum and also, a place of exhibitions, shows, movie projections as well as academic seminars on the theme of wine. For casual visitors, this is a building seen as high tech museum teaching you everything about wine. It is a 3,000 square meter building with 55 meters of height tower.

PLACE DES QUINCONCES

Place des Quinconces in one of the largest city squares in Europe. It was laid out in 1820. Furthermore, it was intended to prevent rebellion against the city. In 2003 tram system was installed. Because of that, the place became the most important public transport hub in the area.

BORDEAUX CATHEDRAL

The cathedral of Saint Andrew of Bordeaux is commonly known as the Bordeaux Cathedral. It is a Roman Catholic church, which is dedicated to Saint Andrew. Furthermore, it is the seat of the Archbishop of Bordeaux.
